Since the company's inception it has been working on developing an innovative commercial introduction programme in Kuşadası, Turkey; that is designed to help school leavers and other students who want to understand what is expected from them in a commercial development environment. Dektek hopes to develop a programme that will ultimately assist students with learning about the web, the technology behind new media, such as the web, television and mobile.
Our eighteen months running the programme has proved to be a challenge for all involved. However, after a long haul the two students that joined are now budding web designers. We expect one of the students to go onto university to study art and design, while the other has taken on a distinct skill in PHP coding and hopes to pursue this further by going to university to study computer engineering and programming.
Rational: This project is the start of what we hope will ultimately become a recognised training programme. Delivering an apprenticeship to new media students in Turkey and from around the world. We hope to deliver the core skills necessary for individuals to develop high-end multimedia, interactive and / or marketing information to corporate clients.
Costs: Because the current assistance is offered in an adhoc way, and due to the fact that we believe strongly that we should share the knowledge that we have, the current offering is delivered for free. However, as the programme starts to develop; the material delivered becomes more formal and the equipment required to deliver the final production becomes more sophisticated, of course we expect to start to charge. Although, we see this charge being offset by the students producing commercial work to a world wide audience.
Inspired by a local business this project started in the summer of 2009, with a specific aim of producing a local advertising portal for every small business and local enterprise in Kuşadası, Turkey. Portal sites (also known as online directories) are among the most popular websites on the internet. Practically anyone who has ever surfed the net has used a portal.
So why did Dektek decide that a Kuşadası portal would be a good thing? Fundamentally, we saw that there was no central resource for non-nationals and non-residents that contained a lot of features and useful content, and also had links to many other sites that are related to the location, and local industry. As the portal develops we shall focus on and include every business and institute located within region.
Rational: This project is dedicated to producing a useful resource for the local community, with everything from bus routes to youth clubs, offered in multiple languages and promoted across all mediums, including; web, radio and local television.
Costs: The portal is to truly become a local resource, so every business will get it's business address and contact number listed for free. However, as we all know too well, every business has a different expectation of their online advertising and for those companies that wish to exploit the opportunity more, there are various advertising enhancements offered at modest prices.
