Dektek is officially named Dektek Bilgisayar Yazalım Hizmetleri Reklam İnşaat Turizm İthalat İhracat Ticaret Limited Şirketi which by any standards is a pretty long name. Founded in 2009, by Derek Richards and Tekin Alış as a web development and marketing company. Since then Tekin has left the main operation of the business to pursue an alternative career in construction and property development. Leaving Dektek in the capable hands of Derek.
Derek, born 1967, is an all round techie having developed a passion for personal computing at the tender age of 14 years, he has gained experience in nearly all computing based technologies, including Video, Audio, CGI, Programming and Hardware.
His career started with working for Quantel as an electronics test engineer, but after a short apprenticeship he realised that his passion for desktop computing was far greater than he had imagined as a child, and so his journey began, filled with the desire to make computing easy and accessible to all Derek formed his own company and hit the technological road.
His travels took him from Market Research, to Commercial Network Installations, Software Design, and then onto the Web. He visited many cities and several countries, including New York, London, Utrecht and Manchester. Now residing in Turkey, Derek has promised to give back to his community and to share his knowledge by working closely with SoHos and mid-sized corporate clients.
Whilst on his quest for knowledge of computing and all that it can offer He managed to pick up some decent qualifications including a High National Diploma from Reading University and a Masters in Philosophy from Manchester University.
Commercially he has achieved being one of the first people in the UK to attain ColdFusion expert level training, Oracle DBA, Systems Architect as well as several other specialist systems management and design certificates. He has also had significant exposure to development of mobile (WAP) and interactive television systems.
But what he prides himself on most is that he believes even though he has been recognised by several commercial bodies most of what he knows, has come from person development. Although he has the capacity to apply business processes to technological solutions, with intuitive interfaces that are aesthetically designed, he always tries to keep up with the latest developments, recently getting involved in the design and development of mobile online applications, including a new contact management apps for Apple iApplication and Google Android mobile devices.
Who really knows what the future holds, but having spent the past few years here in Turkey, I can see that the world and particularly Turkey is advancing technologically very quickly. My hopes for Dektek are to bring new services and capabilities to Turkey and to ultimately assist in making Turkey a world renowned preferred location for internationally outsourced high end technical services.
